Permits in Jordan: What You Need to Know

To film any kind of commercial or corporate production in Jordan, you will possibly need several different permits, all of which are handled by the Royal Film Commission. It is essential that you work with a local production company or fixer, as they will assist with your permit applications.
Here is a general rundown of permits and timeframes:
- Public Locations (Amman): Approximately 5 working days.
- Special Locations (Petra, Wadi Rum, Border Areas): 10–20 working days.
- Drone Permits: Clearance from the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission is essential, and the permits can take up to a month to come through.
Timing Your Jordan Film Production around the Weather

Jordan is primarily a desert country, so the climate tends to be hot and dry throughout. The summer months of June to August are the hottest, so they are not a great time for filming, unless your video necessitates sweltering weather. We recommend the months of March to May or September to November as the optimum times for filming.
Planning Filming Equipment Rental & Local Crew Logistics
Getting all the camera equipment, lighting, and sound gear you need for your production is generally possible in Jordan. It is also much cheaper than transporting it over, and means that you can avoid any hold-ups in the customs process.

If you want a full English-speaking crew, that is also possible as there are many video professionals with a high proficiency in English.
