Project brief
Before traveling on site, our team prepared a project brief, discussing with the client what papers and authorizations were needed to film on the ground and in the air. AAEPC/KEPCO-KPS is the site operator, meaning that we needed written permission. Also, our team had to secure shooting clearance from the Royal Film Commission. Services provided:

The challenges of filming with a drone in Jordan
CARC is the official commission approving operating licenses for drone filming in Jordan. Furthermore, all submitted applications need security clearance from several governmental authorities, including the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the Royal Film Commission. All international clients looking to travel to Jordan for a media project should be aware that managing logistics poses challenges. Without connections and local support, it can lead to unwanted delays.
To manage issues related to securing a drone license, the client turned to our team to help secure a local drone operator with a license. On-site, we also helped with renting a van for easy relocation. Throughout filming, we were required to stay fully compliant with the local shooting regulations. From start to end, we had military personnel accompany the drone operator on-site. At one point, we hit a major concern, namely a discrepancy between the drone specified for use and the one listed on the permit.
Thankfully, we were able to solve this challenge without delays. We turned to the direct connections we had with relevant authorities, and brainstormed a way out. When our team noted the discrepancy between the type of drone and type of license, we requested an urgent amendment to the filming permit. We provided new drone specifications, requested a second review, and managed to get confirmation that the drone at hand had the green light to be used.
Things to keep in mind when filming in Jordan
Filming in Jordan with a drone demands more than just equipment and a licensed fixer. IPP3, in particular, is considered a sensitive area. For our client to be permitted to use the drone, extra security layers were required. Furthermore, precise filming coordinates had to be sent beforehand. To save time and confirm approval, consider sending all requests one month in advance.
In conclusion, we were able to finalize the drone shoot for Pantera Pictures on time. Despite the misalignment we had concerning equipment, our crew focused on finding solutions fast, collaborating with the Jordanian authorities, and delivering results without impacting final delivery.
